Ikkyo / 一饗 - Nakameguro
Ikkyo is normally a high class seafood izakaya in Nakameguro which serves items such as high quality sashimi. Recently they started serving 20 bowls of ramen for lunch, I guess to counter the effects of the pandemic. Normally they are not open for lunch, however their dinner hours are currently cut short to 8pm due to the state of emergency in Tokyo.
According to the chef, the broth is made from katsuoboshi, sababushi, assari clams and shrimp heads. No chicken or any other meats or bones are used, pure seafood power. A light shoyu tare and just a dash of chiyu (chicken oil) don’t cover up the seafood flavor too much. The soup ends up to be quite light and yet full of seafood aroma, with the assari clams and shrimp being in the foreround and the various kinds of dried fish building the backdrop.
Toppings served on the side and are quite exquisite. From the left, you get some nori sheets, sous vide duck breast, thinly sliced negi, a dab of yuzu kosho, ginger flavor infused assari clams and very crunchy and fresh bamboo shoots.
All that for 1000 Yen which is honestly a steal. I doubt they will have this offer forever, so better go and try this bowl before it’s too late.
